Description:
This course gives the introduction to multivariable calculus, partial derivatives and linear approximations of surfaces. We define the directional derivatives and the gradient of a scalar field. We are dealing with unconstrained as well as the constrained optimization problems, using the method of Lagrange multipliers. We introduce the double and triple integrals with their applications. We study vector calculus, line and surface integrals and the main results (the Green, the Stokes and the divergence theorem). We study the linear differential equations of second order with constant coefficients. Finaly, we overwiev basic partial differential equations (the Laplace equation, the heat equation, the wave equation).
