The course covers the fundamentals of electromobility with an emphasis on the technical, energy, and environmental aspects of electric mobility. It addresses the core components of electromobility systems, including electric vehicle (EV) configurations, battery systems, powertrain components including auxiliary systems, and charging infrastructure, including protocols and interoperability. One part of the course is dedicated to the modeling and simulation of EVs, battery systems, and EV fleets, including the analysis of telemetry and GPS data as well as the synthesis of driving cycles. The course also covers methods for optimal control and charging of fleets in interaction with the power grid, electricity markets, and renewable energy sources.
In a broader context, the course includes charging infrastructure planning, integrated scheduling and charging of EVs, techno-economic analysis of fleet electrification, environmental impact assessment through life cycle analysis, as well as an overview of development trends, emerging technologies, and the regulatory framework.
